Hi, I'm Jane,

I'd like to take a moment to tell you about what I offer.  My work as a qualified counsellor is based on experience of working with a wide range of issues which arise from life's challenges.

I have a particular interest in working with people recovering from eating disorders, who may be finding it tough to make the transition from the eating disordered existence to the new normal that shapes the way they go forward. Equally, I recognise the burden of responsibility and distress carried by family and friends in caring roles and welcome working with these clients.

Another focus in my approach is the issues of bereavement and loss. I have volunteered as a counsellor in a Hospice setting and this has been the basis of developing my experience of the complexities faced by people coping with loss in its variety of forms.

I am an integrative counsellor, combining humanistic techniques. This means that I respect that you possess the self-knowledge and internal resources you need to achieve what you want. My role is to guide you towards finding your own way forward.

Without judgement, I will help you to look at your circumstances and offer insights gained from hearing what you share. This will enable you to work towards greater clarity, based on a better awareness of yourself and your experiences.

Therapy & Counselling Experience

I offer counselling in a Person Centred way, which puts you at the heart of the work and concentrates on building understanding through empathy. I combine elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help address negative thinking and patterns of behaviour. I also work with Transactional Analysis (TA), which offers ways of understanding personality, relationships and communication. In combination, these provide different ways of exploring and understanding the issues you bring."
